Three days a week, students will walk over to my library of leveled Spanish readers. What choices will they find? Most of my current materials are decades old, falling apart and lacking relevance or interest for their personal lives. Current research shows that materials for student selected reading needs to be both compelling and comprehensible, as well as varied enough to provide engaging topics for all. I want to fill my shelves with compelling and comprehensible readers to help feed their desire to read the book for the sheer pleasure of reading something good. When my students walk to pick their book, I want them to have quality choices that inspire them to read more and improve their Spanish and overall literacy. I want them to have a hard copy of a book, instead of copies pages stapled together from random sources, so that they feel the satisfaction of finishing a good book.
