Every student deserves to read a book that represents who they are. Even students who do not like reading often are more intrigued when they are reading about a character like them. These books will help provide a culturally relevant library for my diverse classroom. They are books that my students can read and books that I can read to them. My students are looking for ways to improve their literacy skills and reading abilities. Reading books that represent who they are is what draws them in to reading. The students also need some pillows that can go on the floor as they spread around the classroom and get comfortable as they read. Because when students choose their book and their spots, they enjoy reading even more!
