Regular reading is so critical to student achievement in all subjects. Beyond the educational benefits, books create a space for children to be imaginative and grow creatively. They provide an escape from the day-to-day and a vision of what the rest of the world looks like, and the lives they could lead someday. This is what I want to give my students. They will be participating in regular silent reading sessions independently alongside their required class reading to expand their abilities in reading and writing, as well as enrich their inner lives. Reading was so critical to my development as a learner and a person, and I want my students to have the same opportunity.

About my class
