My school is a small public charter school. The students we serve are largely disadvantaged, and they have never had art as a specials class before. Art was a vehicle for me to express myself as a kid, and I know these kids need it as well to help them understand and process the world around them and inside of them. My school was able to order some startup supplies for me, but we do not have the funds to order a poster board for each child so that he or she can create a personal portfolio. I want my students to take pride in their work, and keeping it organized is one way to do that. Portfolios will also help me manage the work of 420 kids that I see each week. It will ensure no one's work is lost, destroyed, or forgotten. All we need to make this happen is a poster board for every one to fold over and staple. Please consider helping me support my students as they learn how to see the artist inside.
