Through a class study of "The Wave" by Tod Strasser I hope to teach my students how to look at others differences, acknowledge them, and accept them. We will read the book together as a class and explore the themes and symbols through class discussion. I'm hoping that this novel exposes my students to new ideas and concepts that have yet to enter their minds. I hope they see how hard it is for the main character to stand up for her ideals and beliefs through the opposition she faces from her peers, and how the opposition only takes hold because they can't see the bad within themselves.
