Students will collect data on speed and acceleration using photogates, design courses, and test hypotheses. Butcher paper is a perfect substrate for cooperative planning and rough drafts in the design processes. Imagine a somewhat noisy classroom where students are sketching and discussing the best way to test their ideas. Working together, giving and taking. This is the real world. It's not just the top-performing students shining, every student is able to participate and increase their science skills. It's not just book learning, it's hands-on.
