Learning about the qualities that make water life’s most important fluid is a difficult task for students to achieve The use of hands-on models help to provide both visual and tactile experiences for student to problem solve why water “acts” the way it does. Cohesion, adhesion, surface tension and the polar nature of water are experienced by students in ways that discussions and lecture notes cannot begin to explain. Trying to verbally explain how a "chain of water molecules" can literally move up the vessels of a plant are difficult for students to comprehend. If they SEE IT HAPPEN by their own manipulations, I hope to see comprehension in their expressions as they proceed through the varieties of activities planned using this kit.
