If this project is fully funded, each student will get their very own recorder to learn to play, to practice at school and at home, and hopefully to begin their lifelong love for instrumental music! My love for music began when I started playing a recorder in 5th grade, and it inspired me to try the clarinet when I got older. So many kids who have even begun to become "too old" for music even rekindle their fire for it again when they pick up a recorder! We do fun activities like "recorder karate" where they can earn belts (pieces of yarn to tie on their recorder) as a motivator. Your donation would be so helpful to these kids, who struggle to afford the $2.60 for a recorder. Our school is 90% free and reduced-price lunch, and we need funding for our kids to have access to the things other music kids in the district do. I thank you for your generous support, and I will make sure all of my kids know that wonderful people from our community made this experience possible for them!
