I have requested two iPads to use as an activity to optimize their learning by giving them individualized practice and instruction. Students will use programs such as LEXIA, Accelerated Reading, Eureka Math, FastMath, etc. They will be able to listen to stories, practice math facts, and learn sight words using a variety of formats that go beyond drill and practice. Additionally, my students will be able to explore the world around them while investigating those topics of interest to them through the use of programs like National Geographic for Kids, The Exploratorium, Brain Pop, etc. My students will be gaining on two fronts; individualized instruction and practice that addresses their challenges and interests, while also acquiring expertise in technology usage. Effective learning for my students requires loads of exposure and application. This combination will encourage, engage and motivate these struggling learners to maintain an investment in education.
