My project is for a variety of fidgets for my students with autism or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I work with students from all spectrum. Fidgets create movement which is alerting to the brain The brain stem is what alerts us and helps us stay regulated. The brain needs to wake up and stay awake when expected to attend. My goal is to help students with brain regulation The fidgets can be a very effective self-regulation tool too. My students will use the fidgets for calming or alerting, to promote focusing and attending, and to increase tactile awareness of fingers/hands. The fidgets that I chose are simple, yet very effective, ways to get hands and fingers moving and won’t distract other students in the classroom. Thank you for your consideration.
