We teach traditional methods of drawing and painting in our high school but we are not able to give our students the digital illustration skills needed to compete in the graphic design market. A veteran artist and nationally known illustrator, saw his generous income from the 1980's and 1990's dwindle to almost 0 because he was unable to create his artwork in a digital format. He has had to re-train himself later in life to use software and hardware to create the type of artwork that will make him competitive in the marketplace again. We need to help our students avoid this. We are interested in acquiring 60 Ugee m708 graphics tablets as an external digital drawing tool. The Ugee tablet works very well with our PCs and Adobe Illustrator software. These tablets are $59 each compared to another leading tablet that cost $99 each. This tablet will effect between 500-600 students artistic experience per year! This will allow us to introduce the digital art skills required to create efficient artwork up to industry standards to give our students a competitive advantage to gain work or apply to college with a stronger portfolio!
