My sole purpose is to empower my students to love physical activity. Research has documented the positive impacts associated with participation in after school programs, including academics and social and emotional outcomes. Families living on my side of town look to after school programs as a source of support to help meet their family’s everyday needs. Another reason that I want to update our gym is that I would like to offer morning and afternoon gym. This type of a program allows for a safe space for students to be physically active, no matter their skill level. Children, families and communities benefit in measurable ways from the after school program. Instead of our students spending time alone or in unsupervised activities, the program provides planned, staffed programs and a safe haven where children can learn and build strong, positive relationships. With materials from donors like you, students will be excited that they too have opportunities like their counterparts across town. I can't teach a student how to play certain sports if there aren't enough materials for all the students to be engaged.
