The books and magazines that I am hoping to provide to my students are as culturally diverse as the students themselves. I am striving to give each and every student the opportunity to pick up a book and engage with the characters in a meaningful way. If they can say “This person is just like me,” they will be able to find the joy and excitement of reading that I hope to instill in each student who comes into my classroom. These books will allow my students the opportunity to choose books that are of high interest and feature characters who represent them. Reading high interest and popular books will lead to rich discussions and book talk between students. My students have already shown an invested interest in independent reading and these books will serve to enrich their experiences with texts.

About my class
