Kindergarten students are active learners. They learn best with new experiences and when they feel a sense of belonging. In some cases, these toys allow me to upgrade my toys so that they represent the races of the students in my class. When using these toys, the children will apply new vocabulary related to the theme. Language development is essential to all areas of the curriculum. These toys create play scenarios where I, as the teacher, can connect reading and writing activities to the students' creative play. For example, children can write signs to label the kinds of buildings that they create with Magna Tiles. They can build the three dimensional shapes they are learning about in math. They can learn about story retelling when using the The Three Little Pigs props.
