My students sometimes have to deal with ‘system overload’, with sensory input that may distract them from engaging in learning, or it all may overwhelm them, so that they have ‘meltdowns’. By providing an area for them to retreat to when they need a break, they’ll be able to work out the ‘overload’ of their system, and return to the learning. I also need lamination and Velcro to continue creating activities from the district curriculum. The district provides an online curriculum, but the students require some hands-on activities. By creating activities with response cards the students can Velcro in place, they can have the skills practice and repetition they need in order to be successful.
