I strive to provide a learning environment where the students are given learning experiences they can relate to. Scholastic Math provides relevant real-world math that students at this age can relate to. The addition of a class set of Scholastic Math would help to provide even more hands on project based mathematics opportunities that students can relate to. Students deserve to have math brought to life so they can enjoy it or even discover their own love for it. I use the 5E learning model which includes sections for Engagement, Exploration, Explanation , Elaboration, and Evaluation. Scholastic Math is cross curricular thus providing real-world experiences our students need in order to make the connections for learning to take place. Students have to see how they can use the math they are learning. Students today are being prepared for jobs that do not yet exist. I strive to instill solid, life-based mathematics skills in my students so they can become educated, mathematically minded, problem solving leaders of tomorrow.
