Students will observe and identify microscopic organisms in dirt. They will also learned how these organisms contribute to life on this planet. Students will take the microscopes outside and place them on a small table. They will then go out and obtain a dirt at different levels from surface dirt to 3 inches deep dirt. They will then observe any organisms using the stereo microscopes. Upon locating and observing the microorganism, they will use a micro organism book to help identify. The intent is to make them interested in science, be more observant, raise their levels of critical thinking, increase curiosity and for them to understand that everything relies on some thing else.
