If my project gets funded, the students will have an area where they will have the opportunity to create collaborative writing pieces. Right now, my students don't have a designated area to work on their writing in groups, and I know that this writing center will make a tremendous difference in bringing enthusiasm and excitement about writing. The games will be used during centers to reinforce reading comprehension skills, and again teach them how to collaborate with one another. They won't need to have a teacher next to them and they'll be able to practice taking turns, sharing ideas, and reading all on their own. This is important to be come independent authors.
