All of our elementary students love to build things. In our Project Lead the Way program, they are given the opportunity to build everything from a new home for the three little pigs to a robot than autonomously moves hazardous elements around a disaster area. As their understanding grows, so do the number of parts involved with their building. The mobile parts bin will allow students to work with an ever-changing and ever-growing collection of materials to help them develop and build projects from the comfort of their own classroom. We are a K-12 school that, by necessity, needs to share many of its resources. Our single lab is located in the HS/MS wing of the building, requiring not scheduling issues, but also storage issues for projects in their various stages of completion. A dedicated elementary mobile parts unit would help greatly to solve this problem and bring the needed materials directly to the student's front door.
