My second grade students need daily access to technology to grow and learn 21st Century skills. Chromebooks could provide just that very opportunity. Our school has a few Chromebooks already, but they are mainly used by the upper grades to help those students transition to middle school. I would like to give these second graders a chance to have our own Chromebooks right in our own classroom. Students would love the opportunity to take daily reading tests right on the Chromebooks. In this room, we begin our day taking tests on books they have previously read at home. Starting the day with a Chromebook in their hands would be a great way to begin the day. Students will also be able to access books and math instruction on their own level without leaving the room. We also use Chromebooks for universal screening testing and end-of-the-year high stakes testing. These young students need to be very familiar with the technology to be able to show what they know.
