This year I have decided to guide my students in making a resource (Big Book) for future 8th graders. My wish is not only that they appreciate what they've learned in each unit, but also recognize their responsibility in passing their knowledge on to those students who will take their place next year. I want my students to describe the mathematical processes, explain prerequisites for each unit, visually draw/model each standard, and reflect on their strengths and weaknesses. The notebooks will be used for a reference when planning the unit summaries. They will keep all of their math materials in their folders. Using the math tools and art supplies just make the project fun. Yes! Math can be fun, too.
