In order to have an authentic performance experience, my students need a classroom that is supplied with authentic and in-tune instruments. Currently, there is a relatively high level of humidity in my classroom. This can affect the tuning of the piano and other classroom instruments that we use on a daily basis. When students have authentic performance and practice experiences, it increases their self-confidence and their self-motivation. The biggest part of ensuring that my students can have an authentic performance, with in-tune instruments is to create a safe environment for those instruments to live within my classroom. A dehumidifier will help ensure that excess moisture will not find a way to affect the tuning of the piano, or the sheet music that is stored.
