My students will learn music skills as well as many non music skills such as team work, time management, and self discovery. We will be learning to play the ukulele. The students will be expected to learn the parts of the instrument and how to take care of the instrument. They will learn proper posture and instrument holding. Strumming techniques, chord knowledge, and chord fingering will be the beginnings of music making. In the process of learning how to play the ukulele the students will be developing life long skills outside of music. The students will learn to play in a small group which uses teamwork and listening skills. They will need to manage their time well when practicing and working on the things that need most work rather than just only working on things they do well. Finally they will discover some things about themselves. Learning how to constructively evaluate their playing while not losing self esteem.
