It's important for my students to have access to a variety of tools to practice and build many musical skills. Most of my students are interested in making more of the music they hear every day, which is a far cry from the standard elementary or middle school band. These books offer a fun and simple way to introduce playing techniques and music reading that uses the music they already enjoy! The Modern Band Method books are a great tool for students who have a more difficult time reading and following standard music notation. Now my students can see where their hands or fingers go on their instrument on an easy-to-read diagram, and they can practice with a jam track made for their instrument part. I am hopeful that having these tools will encourage more of my students to explore playing new instruments, or picking up ones they thought they didn't want to play anymore. No matter if they are in person or at home, my students will be making music for themselves, which is the best thing a music teacher can ask for!
