I was excited and thrilled to settle into a new community and grade level. However, coming from middle school, many of my books weren't quite the best fit for my students, and now, I find myself looking for high-quality, diverse literature for my new classroom library that will nurture the students' love of reading and adventure. This year, more than ever, students need to be engaged and challenged on multiple levels - reading skills, social skills, and awareness of diversity. I have selected a range of age-appropriate books that span a wide set of reading ranges and interests so that all of my students can go to my bookshelves and find something to read. My students are fantastic students and willing to try many things, but the books that were left to me are decades old. The classroom library needs some refreshment and this is the perfect opportunity to build a new library with my students!
