After much research, I have chosen books that deal with relevant and current issues that I feel my students will find interesting and valuable. These relevant themes and the chance for my students to choose what they read will afford me the opportunity to prove to my students that reading can be good for you...and fun! Students need choice in order to develop an appreciation for reading, and they need to be reading relevant and relatable stories. My students will be able to choose books that interest them, and they will be able to discuss some of the "tough" stuff with their peers during their book clubs. Choice just might be the key to creating readers!
