My students struggle with comprehending (informational) nonfiction text. They are more engaged when the material they are reading is current and relatable. I have used Scholastic News magazines with my class in the past and I have found the students are very engaged in what they are reading. The magazines have colorful illustrations, engaging relevant topics, and much needed skills embedded. Also, my students have little, to no access to newspapers, or magazines at home, and lack knowledge of current events. By donating to my project for Scholastic News magazines, you will help my students accomplish the goal of comprehending informational (nonfiction text).
