I am requesting light covers for my students in the classroom. This light blue cover helps with the harshness the fluorescent lighting emits. Since the classroom I am teaching in has no windows, the only light the students have is from 12 fluorescent light fixtures. Many students are thankful for having the lights half off or reduced, as it causes glare on white boards, headaches, and eye strain. The whiteboard tables are requested to use with students while teaching or re-teaching math skills. Students and teachers can use the table to either sit and work or do group projects while writing right on the table. Classroom space is limited and with 8th grade students these tables would come in very handy for them to use during instructional times. I have also requested some awesome magnetic coordinate planes that can be used individually or put together to build one plane out of. This would be so helpful to have and work with students on our State Standards for Algebra and Geometry. I can see them being used at tables, then brought up to the whiteboard, to show similarities and differences in graphs and shapes. Students can take them out into the locker area and use them on the lockers while showing teachers they understand the concepts. What math classroom wouldn't be complete without pencil sharpeners? I have three and not one of them work! It would be nice to replace those with electrical sharpeners that would reduces sound, time spent at the sharpener and embarrassment of the student trying to sharpen a much needed pencil. Last but not least, I am asking for a few books to add to my classroom library. The greatest gift I can give any child is a book they want to read!
