Students will use conductivity meters to explore the properties of electrolytes to better understand how electrolytes sustain life. This lesson is part of a larger unit in which students will use their knowledge of chemistry to search for evidence of life beyond Earth. This unit is part of a new curriculum our school will be using that is inquiry-based and highly engaging. While we already have most of the equipment needed for this unit, we do not have conductivity meters. Our school and district do not currently have a budget for new science equipment, which is why I'm hoping to fund these conductivity meters and batteries using Donors Choose. In addition to the lesson on electrolytes, our school will be able to use the conductivity meters to explore a variety of content in our chemistry and physics classes, including the properties of substances with different bond types.
