My communicatively impaired students will learn about social language skills; how to connect with peers and teachers, by using cartooning as a tool. They will explain to their school communities how visual drawings can facilitate communication. This is a great opportunity for the communicatively challenged students to showcase their visual skills and explain how autism impacts social connections. The laminator will help us finish our social cartoons so our students with autism can share cartoons with peers, teachers, custodians, librarians and office staff. The books will be used as resources for students, teachers and parents to understand the social language world. For further information regarding cartooning as a speech and language therapeutic tool please reference the following sources: Gray, C. 1994.
