Students will be able to use their imagination and fine motor skills to build and create various things using Gears, Straw Builders, Mental Blox and Zooawa Building Toys. They will be able to use what they learned about the engineering design process to draw a plan, create it, improve and make changes to their designs. This is a fun way to engage students in STEM. Students in upper elementary focus on simple machines. The Lego Simple and Powered Machines Set will allow students to explore this concept further and help them when it comes time to design and create Rube Goldberg Machines. I incorporate coding into my lessons. By using the Coding Robots, students will be able to have a better understanding and be able to have a hands-on experience. I would really like to add more books to my STEM library to spark students interest in STEM and get them excited about STEM challenges.
