I have seen some amazingly powerful changes since using flexible seating in my classroom. Students feel empowered and as though they are taking responsibility for their learning. I can't help but to reminisce on the very wiggly and ADHD child I was, sitting in a traditional classroom. I wish I could teleport back in time to introduce this concept sooner. Students mindsets have shifted with the concept of open seating and flexible seating. We all learn differently and have different comfort levels. With these flexible seating options, students will be able to take control of their learning environment and make it work for them. I have a large group of students with needs this year whom would significantly benefit from more flexible seating options. I am excited about the thought of seeing my 25 students brightly shining faces when they see traditional school chairs being taken out of our classroom in order to make space for furniture which will significantly increase our learning environment.
