The materials will help students to design and create the infamous egg drop contraption. This time, there is a little twist, the egg must not only survive the drop from two stories but also survive a tank filled with water as well as an industrial fan on the highest setting. This is the final project as part of my 'whatever it takes to survive extreme weather' unit, illustrating the effects of tornadoes, flooding, and hurricane winds. Having bubble wrap, packing peanuts and cardboard on hand will allow students to get their creative juices flowing instead of worrying about what materials they will have access to. Everything they design is their own ideas and students get so excited when their creation survives each element of the extreme weather, especially the two-story drop.
