Building new vocabulary is so important for 1st and 2nd graders, especially those who may not learn new words through life experiences. Games, especially those with colorful pictures, grab the interest of my students, many of whom have trouble concentrating. These vocabulary folder games will help my students learn how words are related through categories and function. The donation to my speech/language therapy students will result in an enthusiasm for learning with vocabulary activities that will keep them engaged. I have also ordered some fun pencils and erasers to use as incentives for my students who work towards earning these rewards over 2 month periods. They must learn, work and behave to earn these great rewards.
