This group of 7th and 8th grade students come from an urban area that does not allow them to see/know what agriculture is. While most know eggs come from chickens, other details such as knowing ALL food coming from agriculture has not been a common theme. This project will allow students to take ownership in their food supply and gain an appreciation for the people who work hard to bring it to their dinner plates. By incubating eggs in class, students will be able to see the value of a 21 day wait period producers must go through before they see if any of their work has paid off. Not only will they be able to watch the 21 day process, but with parent permission, be able to raise the chicks at home to maturity.

About my class
