My students need as many community building, positive music-making opportunities as possible. We need kid-friendly Tubano Drums to build confidence, community, empathy, cultural awareness, and musical skills. Our students love to drum! Primary students and Life Skills will focus on steady beat, basic rhythms, syllabication, duration, and sound effects. Intermediate students will begin ensemble work with polyrhythms, multiple ostinatos, creation, improvisation, and so much more! The Orff Schulwerk approach to music revolves around Sing, Say, Dance, Play, Create. Students will begin saying and playing the words on Tubano and bridge all the way to creating their own questions and answers, phrases, themes, movement, and group creations. Standing and moving in a circle helps promote empathy. Drumming in a circle helps connect students to each other, building positivity, tolerance, teamwork, and belonging.
