My special needs mathematicians and social studies learners would highly benefit from flexible seating options that will allow them to take ownership in their classroom, collaborate easily with peers through project based learning and station teaching models, and simply be comfortable when they are learning! Flexible seating allows my special needs students to "own" their learning and make their own choices that work best for them. My students have the ability to choose a location in the classroom that works for them when they work independently. Providing more options will ensure a higher comfort level for my students. This will be provided through options for a different table to sit at, sitting with a lap board and cozy cushion, or engaging in learning while sitting in a comfortable chair of choice. Motivating my students is key, and whenever I provide them with choices, they are more engaged than ever before!
