Our school district, in the last year, has adopted a number of technology-based educational programs and initiatives to enhance student engagement and learning. These programs work great for students who have their own technology and reliable access to these devices but for many of my students, this is simply not the reality. These tablets would help to bridge the gaps for my students and would ensure that each student would have access to a device each day. Equal access helps to ensure equal education for all students. In my classroom, students will be using some type of technology at least 3 days a week and so reliable access is crucial to student success. Students will use these devices to help them complete weekly vocabulary assignments, interactive Nearpod lectures, and WebQuest. In addition to these instances of student need for access to a device, our school district has adopted Schoology as the platform for students to use to access their course for class documents and information. With these devices in my classroom,​ I can ensure that even when a student does not have access to a device at home they will have the ability to complete assignments in class rather than having to push them off as homework and feeling embarrassed because they cannot complete them.
