My students learn by taking on the role of doctors in my classroom. My students benefit most from hands-on experiences and models, so I try to incorporate them as much as I can. They work together to solve real patient case studies and model and analyze real lab work (blood work, urinalysis, X-rays, etc) that would be conducted in the medical setting. They learn how to listen to different heart sounds, measure blood pressure, analyze posture, test vision, and spinal reflexes. It's exciting to see them discover first hand how all of the systems of the bodywork together to keep us healthy. There is no greater reward than witnessing them to diagnose a patient correctly and work diligently to research and suggest a treatment plan.
