This year we will be starting a school newspaper. Students will learn good note taking strategies, how to accurately and fairly quote people, the importance of sourcing, how to take pictures with a camera that doesn't double as a phone, and will hone their writing skills. Students will not only learn skills, but will be able to learn about things that they enjoy doing. They might even discover that they enjoy something that they had no idea about. In addition to this, students will practice responsibility with caring for equipment and people's words. We will talk about ethics and the importance of being impartial in reporting facts. We will talk about facts vs. opinions and that while we need both in our world, we need to be able to tell which is which. Students will be able to share the word about the wonderful things going on around our school and wider community.
