My goal is to create an inspiring and welcoming classroom where my students want to be. I want to have positive messages and literature and writing aids posted on all of the walls, I've included posters that feature literacy and writing aids, vocabulary builders, items to create a reading and writing bulletin board and grammar posters. These items will be part of meta-cognitive teaching strategies that will be used in combination with scaffolding and a variety of classroom activities. Creating visual aids around the room can be very helpful for students who are learning basic literacy. I want my students to feel excited and ready to learn when they walk in, but my classroom doesn't provide that feeling right now. The walls are blank and the windows are bare. I've also included some items to promote mindfulness. Such positive messages will be posted all around the room and an aromatherapy oil diffuser. Stimulating multiple senses during instruction increases processing speeds and improves memory recall.
