Handwriting is still a huge part of school success, despite our increasing use of computers. My middle school and elementary school students need special materials such as handwriting instruction workbooks (Handwriting Program for Print and Cursive Workbook for Teens), writing tablets (Kuratu's electronic tablet), special pencils (Twist 'n' Write pencils), and pencil grips in order to improve their handwriting quality. They have special education services, but often they don't have the special supplies they need. My students want to participate in school just like their peers, but it's simply more challenging for them. They're often resistant to writing because it's so difficult. Sometimes they're embarrassed about how they write anything - their name, a worksheet, an essay. Using computers helps them a lot, but they still need to be able to write by hand. I hope that with these materials, my students will feel proud of their handwriting in the future. I hope they'll also just feel like an average student who can write by hand in class! Thank you for considering my students.
