Journals will provide a way for students to express themselves. Pencils will give them the ability. I often have students coloring during guided reading. Kindergarten kids need to be able to have what they need and explore. Through the use of journals, my kids will learn about themselves and others. I want every child to feel successful and not held back. Coming to school on the first day with brand new crayons and being able to color, will make them smile and laugh. I have my students illustrate all of their writing and crayons are vital. The crayons, pencils, and journals will be used by the students, so that they may create books.
