I will be using one book per week to teach my reading curriculum. These books are not your typical basal reader with simple stories that can be somewhat boring. They are exciting and engaging! We have purchased an exciting reading curriculum, but have been checking the books out from our local library. Our public library is an amazing resource, but it is very time consuming checking each book out weekly. These books help me teach strategies (characters, prediction, setting, etc), comprehension, vocabulary and grammar. I have used these books for three weeks now and the love for reading I can see on my students' faces is heartwarming! This grant would be a tremendous blessing to me and my students.
