Throughout the year, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers create and share our students in flexible learning groups for reading and math that include all grade levels within our team of four teachers. This allows us to differentiate instruction after assessing to meet the more specific needs and goals of our students. However, we are limited in purchasing consumable materials for students so this document camera will be a great technology resource that also helps me with engaging my students more. The document camera will help me bridge the language and modeling with clear visual concepts in just about every subject area! It has been very hard to model more difficult math for my students, keep their attention, and be able to fully walk-through as we work problems and strategies together. By having this camera, my students will be more engaged and better understand the strategies and new concepts they are learning daily in reading, writing, and science as well. We will also be doing more interactive read aloud lessons with science and social studies. The camera will allow all students the ability to see and track the literature and graphic information at the same time while it is being presented. I will be able to write on the whiteboard and share student work with the whole class at the same time. I won't have to spend extra time walking the entire classroom for everyone to see what I'm sharing. I will also be able to read while the students look on and make connections as we read and discuss.
