I am the special education teacher at a low-income Title 1 elementary school.. My students require multi-sensory learning opportunities (see it, hear it, touch it). The items I am requesting will provide students with the tools that research has proven to be effective for struggling readers, including students with learning disabilities and dyslexia. These items will be used with kindergarten through third graders who are performing below benchmark on our district-adopted literacy assessment on a daily basis during an intervention block, with the goal of closing the achievement gap by increasing their foundation reading skills closer to grade level standards.
