This year I purchased a membership to “The Encouraging Classroom”. This online subscription will provide monthly lessons and activities for students. Each month will focus on a different character trait. There will be a 15 minute lesson every day focusing on that trait. Each month will also have two read aloud books as a focus for teaching the character trait. Learning to become a family takes many lessons on: devotion, hard work, and social/emotional learning. This year my goal is to create an encouraging classroom environment for my students. I strive for an environment that teaches my students how become a family and create meaningful relationships at school and at home. Students will learn skills to help them manage emotions, resolve conflict, and make responsible decisions. These lessons and activities will provide emotional support for students that they may not be receiving at home. It will also encourage students to become kind and caring individuals. These book titles will be an essential component for these lessons, and will make a great addition to our classroom library. Students will be able to hear and read books that teach lessons on kindness, good morals, compassion, and so many other important social-emotional skills.
