As my third graders enter the classroom, they are excited for what the day will bring. They want to share stories with me and their classmates, however, our daily schedule is very full. When the students first arrive in the morning, they need time to adjust to the new day and get their minds ready. The materials requested will provide students with a variety of choices before beginning the academic part of the day. These activities and materials available for our "soft start" will appeal to the different kinds of learners - visual or kinesthetic, for example, and will allow them to engage in hands-on, creative, and cooperative learning. This "soft start" to our day will enable the students to get their minds ready to learn all they can and have fun doing it!
