As a new teacher to the public school district, I came from a charter school where all students had access iPads for a portion of their class time. Upon arriving to my new school, I was surprised to find that this technology would not be available to my students. My old school and current school are 3 miles apart. I wondered why some students in this community should have access to technology while others would not have such an opportunity. Technology is an integral part of our daily lives and serves as a way for students to become familiar with such devices while enhancing their academic skills on teacher- chosen apps. Each day, a portion of my lesson will include workstation time where students will rotate around the room to different centers and complete different activities. At the Technology Center, students will use learning apps for reading and math where they can receive individualized instruction. I can preset lessons for each student so they are practicing specific content for their level. I can also track my students' progress on the apps and set goals throughout the year. Classroom space is limited, but having iPads will allow my students to work anywhere in the room. They will be a learning tool that seamlessly integrates into the room as students move from one center to the next.
