The use of headphones is a daily activity in my classroom, especially when students are practicing speaking and listening skills. We have adopted a program called iLit for English language language learners of various language levels in reading, speaking, writing, and listening. During some of the tasks, my students are asked to listen to text, listen to vocabulary words in context, practice reading passages that they have interacted with, and so many varied activities to boost language proficiency. The headphones allow me to playback their reading so I can provide useful feedback and it also allows them to know what areas to focus more of their time when correcting their speaking and reading fluency. One of the issues is that we rarely have enough materials for all students and the headphones that we do have get strained from frequent use. When a student does not have their headphones, they become a distraction to other students when they have to play videos. They are also behind in assignments because they are unable to record their speaking. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their language skills that will help them to be successful in all of their content classes.
